Relief From and
Treatment for Shingles

There is much you can do as a treatment for shingles. First, what causes shingles? Most adults have had chicken pox as a child. This virus can then lie dormant in the spinal cord and nerve ganglia for years, until activated by a (temporary or permanent) weakening of the immune system. Some things that can weaken the immune system are overwork, poor diet, a vaccination, or medication.

Shingles Symptoms

Shingles, also known as Herpes Zoster, is a serious disease that indicates that the immune system is weak. It affects the nerve endings in the skin. An attack of shingles is often preceded by a few days of fever, chills and aches. Then the skin breaks out in tiny fluid-filled blisters surrounded by a red rim. There is intense pain. This can last one to two weeks.

Shingles are generally found on the chest and abdomen, but also on the face, around the eyes, on the forehead, the neck and on the limbs and hands. Scabs form and eventually fall off.

Shingles can appear at any age but is more common in people over 50, when the immune system may become weaker. Elderly people can continue to be affected even after being cured. Pain can continue for several months or even years after the symptoms have disappeared.

In order to heal shingles one must purify the body. This is the best way to ensure a complete cure and completely rid the body of the disease. Using chemical medication can repress the symptoms further into the body, causing more serious, long term problems.

However, if shingles appears on the forehead or near the eyes see an ophthalmologist. If left untreated it could result in vision loss. Shingles can result in very serious complications if left unchecked or in people with immune deficiencies. They should seek medical help.

Causes of Shingles

As mentioned above, shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox.

The chance of a shingles attack can be increased by many factors:

  • Stress - physical or emotional, even a minor injury or cold
  • Cancer
  • Anticancer drugs
  • Conditions that suppress the immune system
  • Corticosteroids ¹

It is often difficult to determine the exact cause, although stress plays an important role.

Causes of Shingles
on the Emotional Side

Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Fear and tension. Too sensitive.

Affirmations to use for your treatment for shingles: I am relaxed and peaceful. I trust the process of life. All is well in my world. ²

Shingles burns like a fire, which can stem from anger when one feels criticized or fearful. One may feel hurt by someone or something, which creates tension and the feeling that the body needs attention. The first reaction is a need to retreat to avoid further attacks. One may feel a deep sense of insecurity. As the anger is turned inwards, it allows the aggressor to be successful and results in the feeling of being a victim. One still feels in danger.

Shingles shows me that I am having a strong reaction towards this person or situation that is causing me great stress. This makes it difficult to make decisions. I can only control my own life; I can trust myself to take the right decisions.

Affirmations: I accept my sensitive side as it is a part of me. I stop fighting against myself and I look myself squarely in the eyes. I feel strong and secure. I let go of the suffering of others who have their own difficulties. ³

Diet Recommendations

Include in the diet:

  • Brewers yeast
  • Brown rice
  • Garlic
  • Raw fruits, vegetables and whole grains

Eat plenty of foods that contain vitamin B6, including:

  • Bananas
  • Nuts
  • Potatoes
  • Sweet potatoes

Essential fatty acids promote the healing of skin and nerve tissue.

Include green tea in your treatment for shingles. It has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. The polyphenols it contains have been found to fight herpes viruses.¹

Shingles Pain Relief

A cool chamomile compress can aid in soothing the blisters. Make a strong chamomile tea and allow to cool completely. Soak sterile gauze in the tea and apply to the sores.

Cayenne (capsicum) relieves pain, detoxifies and aids in healing. It is available in capsule form. Most people feel no side effects, some may experience a burning sensation in the anus during elimination.

More Suggestions for
Your Treatment for Shingles

For those who are strong enough and are fine with fasting, a cleansing fast can help.
Avoid drafts.
Allow the affected area to be exposed to sunlight for fifteen minutes every day if possible.

Keep stress to a minimum or learn how to better manage stress. Stress will weaken the immune system’s ability to fight off the disease.

See an ophthalmologist if the shingles appear on the forehead, near the eyes, or on the tip of the nose. Untreated ophthalmic herpes zoster can lead to vision loss.

Testimonial

On or about March 4th I was diagnosed with shingles. The itchy, burning sensation I dealt with was agonizing.

I decided to opt out of the pharmaceuticals that were prescribed to me; the side effects included (but were not limited to) mood changes, agitation, hallucinations, yellowing eyes/skin, easy bruising/bleeding, headache, nausea, and diarrhea.

I was very grateful for the help that Sue-Anne Hickey was able to provide me on such short notice. She recommended and was able to set me up with two herbal supplements as well as a chlorophyll liquid.

Within 36 hours of starting the prescribed daily amount of supplements, I noticed a huge improvement. The pain was nowhere near as severe as it was and the blisters started to scab over and not itch as much.

The symptoms were completely gone within 5-6 days and I was completely healed within 2 1/2 weeks as that was the amount of time it took for the scabs to subside.

Without the help of Sue-Anne and her recommendations, my ordeal would have been much worse. My only regret was not contacting her 24 hours earlier.

Thanks again Sue-Anne,
Guy Walker
